Is it possible to balance game time and study time?

I've been battling to balance my love of gaming with my academic commitments. With new titles being released on a weekly basis and in-game events taking place, it's easy to lose track of the time. But last week, I had to interrupt a tournament session since help with assignment deadlines were approaching. It helped me realize that, while games are a terrific way to relax, smart time management is essential. Has anyone else found a good balance between gaming and studying? Perhaps you could discuss how you keep on track without missing out on either side.
